Chapter 3 Part 2 Progress - Update #2


Greetings from Queen Mist and Queen Dani!

It's been a little while since we last provided an update! We meant to keep it consistent, to fill the space before the next release, but unfortunately, we've been so busy that we lost track of time. However, that does mean we have things to say now!

The last time we talked about Last One Standing: Royal Massacre chapter 3 part 2 was about three weeks ago. (If you missed it, check out our previous devlog! It discusses the story of this part in greater detail, to give you an idea of what you're in for!) At that time, the coding for the investigation and conference were done, but not for the aftermath portion. The first stage of testing for the conference was nearing completion, but not quite there yet, and the art was a bit farther behind, with many sprites and CGs still needing to be finished before the time came for the massive final step.

Naturally, with all the time that's passed, we've been able to conquer most of those tasks!

For starters, the conference's aftermath has been fully coded! Which means that all of chapter 3 part 2's coding is done (including the bonus scenes!), a box checked off for good. The music for this segment, too, has been made, all put into the game where it should be. Since all of the minigames have officially been coded, the conference testing was able to be wrapped up as well. It will be a while before the rest of the testing can occur, and before the final stage of proofreading/editing, but that's alright! Lastly, all of the sprites and CGs for this part are done, also added into the game.

The only thing left to do where art is concerned is the Royal Execution animation—which will be a huge undertaking for one person. So even though it's just one item, it includes tons of planning, drawing, and assembling, meaning that it will be a while before it's finished.

We will try to fill that time with discussions of what's to come in the next release, as well as any progress updates we can give, though the latter may be complicated when all of our work is going into just one element. For now, just be patient; we will try to get this part out as quickly as possible, but it's very likely that that won't be until late autumn.

At least this means we'll be more than ready for chapter 4 when the day comes to start working on it! We've had ample time to write the script for it, and to plan for its every event, so that should get done quickly once chapter 3 part 2 is out of the way!
